How true is self-manifestation and the law of attraction?

I have read how focusing on what you want will get you what you want. The theory is like attracts like. Thoughts become things. Well I've also read a counter argument to the law of attraction as taught by the majority of teachers now a day stating that the law of attraction will not work if people use the techniques based on their greed and desire of money, fame, and wealth. Rather the article stated the only way self-manifestation really works if it is is used in a way to help others. I'm curious as to what exactly is your belief regarding this matter.

1. Excellent question. There's an old book, "Fourteen Lessons in Yogi Philosophy" by Yogi Ramacharaka (around 1900) that defines the law of attraction. He explains that thoughts do have electrical substance, or something akin to it, and that like thoughts gather in the same place, like water atoms gather and form clouds. He mentions that when you go into a cathedral and feel this great energy, it's all the positive thoughts gathered there. He mentioned that you can tap into thought clouds, like inspiration and ignorance. Geniuses, like Thomas Edison, he said, tapped into thought clouds, previous inspirations, and it helped come to even greater inspirations.

So, if there is more than one person participating in making the thought-cloud, wouldn't it become more powerful if it had to do with a universal that was in harmony with everything and everyone? If it only served one tiny being, how powerful would it be?

Let's suppose for a minute you wanted world peace. There's a great big thought cloud however, wanting war and competition. The collective consciousness doesn't want world peace right now. But what if, for one day, we all wanted it? Guess what, we would have it that day!!!

2. Interesting question.

I have used the power of thought to improve my life in a lot of ways. I use it towards my current career path, I have used it to find a new home, and many other things.

The power of thought is real, and is very helpful in achieving your goals in life. (although there is so much more to it then just wishing for it - like sitting on the knee of a cosmic santa. Consciously working towards the goal and being aware of opportunities to further yourself are also key elements)

I don't believe that the universe "judges" the quality of your goal. I personally don't think it matters what you want. The real test comes from whether or not you BELIEVE you can reach that goal, are ALLOWED to reach that goal, and that you DESERVE to reach that goal. That's where many people falter. They want something but deep down inside they don't believe they can ever truly have it.

A good example of an error in those teacher's thinking is Oprah; arguably one of the most influencial, famous and wealthiest women of the world.

Its commonly said that she uses the secret and that's how she got to where she is. And while she does lots of good things with her money and influence to help people improve their lives, she also lives a wealthy lifestyle that is completely beyond anything that you or I will likely ever experience.

Some people (like those teachers) believe that its sinful or selfish and inappropriate to wish goodness onto yourself. Instead they teach that its only appropriate to wish for goodness for others. This comes from their own inability to BELIEVE that they are worth as much as the next person. But truthfully aren't you as deserving of a good life as anyone else?

Why should it be an either/or situation? We can all wish goodness on ourselves AND on others if we choose to embrace a belief that there is enough for everyone. That's how I choose to live. Believing that there is more than enough to go around. I look for opportunities to help others and I also look for opportunities to help myself.

I hope that helps. :)

3. I think the law of attraction will work as long as you focus on it the right way i.e. image board, etc. I don't think you necessarily have to be greedy or helpful to others in order to get your desired wish. Though if it had to be one or the other, I'd go with the latter.

4. It may not work all the time. Its oversimplifying everything by just saying that you start imagining and it will come true.
In general we always put ourselves before everything else, so to say that we will only thing about the 'higher good' all the time is being untrue to ur own selves.
Sometimes some things are not just meant to be. For eg. If you choose a particular person and just start wishing that he/she falls in love with you it may not happen at all.
I personally believe we follow a subconscious plan that we made before we entered as a human on this planet. And what we wish for aligned to that plan manifests easily.
What is not meant to be WILL NEVER EVER HAPPEN no matter what you do, and you just have to let go.

5. The desire for money, success, and a wealthy lifestyle is not greed. Greed is the desire for others wealth, success, and money. There is a false stigma placed on being rich, one of the greatest things that we can do for our self and for humanity is to be the best that we can be and you deserve to live your life to the highest level humanly possible. The Law of Attraction is an fascinating Universal Law that works in harmony with other Universal Laws allowing us to manifest whatever we desire. The Law of Attraction discusses the power of thought but thought alone has never produced anything in this world.

That's where so many people miss the boat because they believe they can receive without having to give anything and that can not be. The Universe operates in perfect balance (Karma) and will surely give you what you put out. Universal Law doesn't care whether we believe in it or not the perfect force is constantly working. Have belief that you are worthy and capable of living your best life now. Stay persistent and determined to be more, do more, and learn more and you'll experience the progress.

6. I think that's a great question!

I agree that if the intention is one of power to hurt others and greed to hold over someone is not in alignment with our Source. With that being said, it doesn't mean that they won't manifest their desires.

When a desire is requested, the Source hears all of our requests and then goes to work on our behalf. Law of Attraction is creating people, events and circumstances that will move toward you in alignment with your desire. Maybe you'll call it fate, coincidence, luck or "meant to be."

Being wealthy is a wonderful thing, not only does it give you choices in creating your life, you're able to assist others with your money. Too many people think that to be wealthy is not noble or it is out of integrity. Life is meant to be joyful, wondrous and abundant!

The Law of Attraction is an amazing law that works every time whether you believe it or not. You must allow it to work for you. When you ask, it is given as long as you're not resisting, repelling or pushing your desire away with doubt, fear, worry etc. You can get more information at http://www.LawofAttraction123.com

7. Sounds like you have met teachers who are greedy and/or want you to believe that to be happy you must leave behind all material things. That is a load of you know what.
Never mind asking anyone about the law of attraction. All you have to do is read up on it a bit and then spend a couple minutes trying it out. If it does not work, you will know right away and the opposite of course is also true.

It never ceases to amaze me how lazy people must be when it comes to experimenting. What, are they afraid that they will die if they do not get the parking spot or whatever they experiment with? I did my research about ten years ago and my life has improved a thousand fold since then. Not only that I have had the benefit of watching other people`s lives improve after being influenced by some of my intentional chats, but that is another story and I respect their privacy. Cheers!
