How to change your mindset for weight loss?

How can one change their mindset from convincing itself "just one more serving of goldfish crackers" or, "ok i'll have a frozen yogurt" and stuff like that. How can you force yourself to have no appetite and just restrict?

1. There's a few little tips I can give you.

1. Put sticky notes on the food you're most likely to snack on saying something like 'This is worth a 2km run' or 'If I don't snack on this, I can lose an extra 1/2 a kilo!'. It might seem like a little thing, but it can do really well.

2. Only eat when you are actually hungry. Stop and think to yourself 'Am I hungry, or am I eating out of boredom/stress/etc?'

3. Try having 5-6 small meals a day. That way you stay fuller for longer and your metabolism is constantly at work, meaning you will lose more weight.

4. Try to make a set time for you to eat. For example, I eat at 8am, 10.30am, 1pm, 4pm and 7pm everyday, and it keeps me really full and organised.

5. Put up a picture of when you were thinner, or of what you'd like to look like on your fridge and pantry. This will act as a reminder that you're trying to lose the weight, not gain it.

I hope this is of help, good luck.

2. You can't force yourself to have no appetite, but you can give yourself the will power to resist temptation. Start by reminding yourself that you are a strong, mature person. Give yourself a pep talk several times a day, always be positive and always talk to yourself in the past or present tense. Things like "I always eat only the things that are good for me" or "I have stuck to my resolve in the past and I am still sticking with it". Allow yourself to eat only at scheduled times and when you feel like snacking remind yourself "I can have a snack at 3 o'clock (or whenever your next scheduled eating time is), I can easily wait, it's not that long"

Focus on what you can have not on what you shouldn't eat. Offer yourself options that don't include food: "I can go off my diet now if I were weak, or I can be as strong as I know I am and buy a new shirt/pair of shoes/whatever instead" "I don't need those extra, empty calories, so I'll rent a movie instead"

If you do give in to temptation, just remind yourself of all the things you have done right: The snacks you haven't had, the desserts you turned down, the good choices you have made, then give yourself permission to occasionally give take a break from your routine. A lapse once in a while will actually help you stick to your resolve so long as you don't use it as an excuse to just give up.
