Those who love capitalism: Do you mind that your hard work is helping the wealthy become wealthier?

As of now, your labor makes them more money than it makes you.

I've also seen lots of people on here say "I don't want my money supporting the lazy and unemployed" How exactly is this different from giving your money to the lazy rich?

Isn't Capitalism just the biggest entitlement program to subsidize the lives of the wealthy?

Does everyone know that the middle class is footing the bill for the wealthiest minority?

Why do people virtually worship the wealthy in this country?

Do you actually believe that if you work hard enough you'll become a millionaire? billionaire?

Isn't Capitalism designed to provide for the wealthy and take from the worker?

Public Comments

1. I am self employed. My hard work makes me wealthier.

2. What makes you think that I can't create the cure for cancer?

I am chasing a biology degree to work in the biotechnology field. I plan on researching life extensively and you never know what may come out of my research.

Capitalism allows me to do this.

3. The lazy rich as you label them, put up the capital to start the business, so I can work. What are they teaching nowadays

4. try again when you can fully understand what you are talking about. What company have you started, how many jobs has your company created, what products does your company make? Who put up the initial investment and took the initial risk in creating the company so that people have jobs.

5. If you refer to the grossly overpopulating cultures, yes they pump out ever more desperate excess labor undercutting wages. That makes them ever poorer while making the rich ever richer.

6. CAPITALISM IS FAR FROM BEING PERFECT BUT SO FAR NO ONE HAS COME UP WITH ANYTHING BETTER. FOR ONE THING IT DOES NOT REWARD THE NON-PRODUCER AND PUNISH THE PRODUCER

7. That's the dumbest thing I've read today. I am stupider for having read it. God have mercy on your soul.

8. I'd rather work for a rich person then a government that takes from the working class and gives so little in return.

9. I don't mind it at all as long as those wealthy people keep providing me with a job and the benefits that go along with it. Capitalism is fantastic!

10. "Do you mind that your hard work is helping the wealthy become wealthier?"

Do I have a choice? The only way I can stop that is if I stop working. Yeah, sometimes it bugs me that the people above me are making more money, and many times off of my efforts for which I get paid not enough. But its been that way forever. and the only way out of it is to keep working so that someday I may become rich.

11. It amuses me how your kind thinks you can become rich while being lazy. If that was the case, all of you would be rich.. and you're not.

My efforts making money for somebody else doesn't bother me, because they're playing an active role and putting their own effort in.

The same cannot be said about your kind. You contribute nothing to society, and yet you demand more and more and more.

12. no- cause at least with capitalism... I have a choice.

13. I can't believe that these age-old talking points are still swallowed so willingly and without critical thought by young cafe' marxists.....but hey, they still seem to think that buying Che T-Shirts at a 400% mark-up that were made by Asian slave-labor is actually "cool."

14. Capitalism is designed to give economic freedom to everybody. Capitalism is designed to give wealth to those who EARN it.

15. I regard it as a 'win-win'situation. My employer benefits by profiting from my labor and I profit through my salary and benefits.

And if it was not for the owner of my company expanding the business several years ago into an area that required that he hire somebody with my skills - I would not have this job.

16. No my friend, you have it all wrong.

Capitalism is all about providing goods and services that we need and want. Nobody forces you to buy anything under capitalism. Those wealthy people get rich by selling you something of value. Something that you willingly turn over your hard earned money to purchase.

You think Steve Jobs got rich by screwing us? No, he got rich by founding and running a company that makes innovative goods that we want to buy like the Mac, iPod, iTunes, iPhone, etc. I do not care that he is a multi-billionaire. He didn't cheat me, he served me!

These wealthy folks also do something that us workers do not. They take risks. Back to my example of Steve Jobs. He could have just worked for some company and done OK, but no, he started his own company, and risked his own capital and livelihood, to bring us products we want.
