Do you believe in the power of positive thinking?
I read a book about it, called Creative Visualization, and now I'm wondering, is it realistic? The book states that if you think about a situation and imagine a certain positive outcome, it will happen. What is your take on this?

1. it worked for me before.. but sometimes the exact opposite happens
i guess it luck..
2. Don't know, I don't think positive often.
3. You know, someone once thought "I won't die" a thousand times, and I turned up. Who ordered Death?
4. When Oprah is around, no.
5. i think that's krippy.
6. I believe !
And I have read many books about that!
And I have experience some things.
I truly believe it's true!
7. A positive attitude for sure helps, but you also have to do your part, like study for the test and not just hope you pass, or exercise and not just hope to loose weight.
8. I'm not sure if it will happen but i try to be as positive as i can, it's better than being negative all the time. My best friend is negative about marriage and even life, I don't think it will take you far in life, the more positive you are the more you want to do something and have the confidents and in some cases its a success :)
9. How do the authors of these books know it's true? Was there any research, surveys or experiments done about it? I highly doubt it.
10. I believe in it. Some scientists have even funneled that optimism into medicine. There are medicines being tested that would be given to a patient, and just by thinking it would help them, they would feel better. The medicine really would not do any work.
It's an interesting concept. I've seen good results from positive thinking in my life.
11. It is an interesting theory. I believe there might really be something behind it.If you think you are going to fail a test for example, you will subconsciously create a self fulfilling prophecy and fail the test.In other words you'll say to yourself there is no point of studying, I'm going to fail anyway,I don't have enough time to learn the material and so on.So, you will start making excuses and doing things that support your idea of failure. If you believe that you are going to pass the test you will study and put more effort into studying because you won't see it as a lost cause. The imagination thing is good also because, as you probably read in the book, our minds cannot tell the difference between reality and imagination. Therefore, if you imagine doing well on the test, you can get a sense of accomplishment and success just like you would after doing so in reality. So, that also motivates because you know how good it will feel and happy you will be to have done well on the test. I believe that is the main idea behind it.
12. I don't think you will actually make a positive thing happen, but I believe no matter what happens you will have a positive take on it.
13. I know it works...
