Can positive thinking really bring us to positive results?

I've read a lot about the power of positive thinking and it's magnetism. Is it true? Will my life change for better if I try to be more positive or will it lead to bigger disappointments?

1. Yes, focus on goals, visualize what you want to accomplish. If you are working towards goals, how can that lead to bigger disappointments? If you are making achievements, you are moving forward.

2. If you think of all the things you now have, then you have everything... if you only dwell on the things you don't have, then you have nothing. your out-look on life should be like driving in the car.==you look forward for the most part, through the windshield, and you only look back through that small mirror. keep your thoughts in that perspective and you will always be planing ahead. remember ==you can not change anything that you see in the mirror. history is =well= history.....

GOOD LUCK.

3. Anna, it sounds like you may have watched or read up on The Secret. If you haven't, I'd suggest you do! It is my belief that sustained optimism can and does bring positive results. Disappointments are an inevitable part of life, but positive thinking is like a compass which will continuously guide you to what you really want in life while preventing you from being distracted from negative influences. Every pessimistic that I know has stunted their own growth due to not believing in the tangibility of their dreams.

I realize at the surface I may be coming across as some hippie, but here are some "credentials" if you call it that--I credit these "wins" to positive thoughts.

1) It helped me lose 100 lbs and "visualize" myself as a fit, strong, and confident man at a time where I was an obese and weak kiddo. I woke up one day as an athletic MMA fighter.

2) It helped me put myself through school despite "the odds" not being in my favor. In the end, it helped me grow in my career from a kid who emptied trucks to being a national executive at a top-10 Fortune 500 firm (while in my 20s). This translated into multiplying my income tenfold and affording some nice amenities in life.

3) It helped me find love and happiness despite a terrible first marriage which ended in my first wife cheating on me and breaking my heart. I never gave up on my pursuit to find "that someone" and the positive though led to me finding my best friend who is now my second (and last!) wife.

Don't let pessimism get in your way. Expect disappointments, expect heartbreak, but commit to realizing your dreams and they will materialize when the time is right!! Good luck!

4. Positively! :)

5. Anna - Yes! Positive thinking is wonderful. It makes you feel better also. And Anna, you deserve to feel good.
