How do I get out of a negative mindset?

Well when I get up to go to school at about 6.30am each morning, I feel really bad, almost as if I don't want to go to school, and want to go back to bed. I go to bed at around 10.30pm, so I get 8 hours of sleep. When I wake up in the mornings, I'm not tured, but I feel so worn down as if I would prefer to stay at home; almost as if I'm not bothered. Any way that I could get out of this mindset?

1. you just dont like school. thats normal

2. I think it's normal unless you're one of those strange people who loves school or work, or whatever! I would much rather stay home too! I guess what you need to do is look at what the positive things at school - looking forward to a particular friend, a certain class, a teacher maybe. You know, it's kind of like saving your favorite food for the last thing you eat on your plate -- get all the yucky stuff out of the way first so you'll have something to look forward to!

3. think of school as happy place where your mind gets nourishment. go to school, you must.

4. get up 15 mins earlier and do a couple of easy excersizes ... other things in the morn seem easier after that

5. You are getting less than eight hours sleep; but eight hours is not mandatory. Different people need more or less sleep; eight's just the average. I'd suggest NO television an hour before bed -- let your mind wind-down; instead of being stimulated. Maybe read; maybe have a nice hot, relaxing shower or bath -- just as long as you are not "thinking" or trying to solve problems. This may help you get a better night's sleep, so that you are not feeling so "run down". And try going to bed half an hour earlier. A lot of people don't necessarily "nod off" the minute their head hits the pillow.

The only other thing I would suggest is music. Play a CD or your iPod as you are getting ready for school. Make sure though, that it's music that you really love, and that gets you going (ie not depressing... I'm so sad... I'm so lonely and blue -- slash my wrists lyrics). Whatever is your favourite music, plug yourself in and play it loud.

Unfortunately, the "school blahs" are a fact of life when you are bored out of your brain; and school is a pain in the butt and there are a million other things you'd rather be doing. If only students were allowed to score teachers -- on how boring their class is or that the subject matter is irrelevant or whatever. Too many teachers are to blame. There are teachers that just don't care... and therefore, you would rather be out with your mates having fun -- instead of sitting in a stuffy classroom listening to some boring teacher prattling off equations or facts about a subject that should have been relegated to the garbage bin last century.

Only you know what things get you going; but I've always found most people love great music. So this is one way to get you out of your negative mindset; but you probably could think of other things that are more "uplifting".

6. Maybe play some of your favourite music first thing - like, hit the alarm clock off, then hit the music on. And sing it out too! Lie there for a min and sing in silly puppet voices (Yoda for example lol). Do something fun first thing is my point.
Maybe buy yourself some really nice shower gel/aftershave or new clothes once in a while that you can show off and feel cool about wearing. Or get into a project at school, like an art project where you and a few others can grafitti a wall with the school's permission etc. I don't know what you're into, but whatever you're into, reward yourself in it as a motivation to get up. This is terrible but when I was forced to go to church as a kid, I used to cultivate a crush on the best looking guy in the service as motivation to get up. Use whatever works for you.
