What is the mindset behind Republicans wanting it legal to carry guns in our National Parks?

While most Americans go to parks with the agenda to enjoy themselves, this only makes it more inviting for people with 'other' agendas to take advantage of innocent Americans and foreigners who visit our parks.

1. Okay so your contention is that the criminals will become more brazen if they know that honest law abiding citizens might possibly be armed? Gun laws punish law abiding citizens, not criminals. Your logic is flawed and backwards. Just for the record there is crime and murder in our nations parks and the people do have a right to defend themselves.

2. There are already gun carrying drug dealers in the national parks so allowing freedom loving Americans the same privilege is fine with me.

3. The mindset is to protect yourself...it always has been. Period. There are wild animals that have attacked quite a few people over the years in these parks. Quite a few deaths and maullings have been reported.

The moral of the story is. If owning and carrying a gun becomes illegal, then ONLY the BAD guys will have them.

4. Because whenerver you have liberalized concealed-carry laws - you have a reduction in violent crime.

5. The idea is, when there are people in the park with "other" agendas. A person with a firearm can defend himself and/or others against someone with such an agenda.

Just because an area is labeled a "Gun Free Zone" does not make it such, ask the kids at VA Tech. Perhaps if there was another student or professor that was armed he or she could have stopped him and saved some lives.

6. Passed by the Democrats. Why don't you ask them?

7. So you don't keep guns around??
where 'bouts d'you live?
Hmmmmm....
Saddle up boys...heres an easy one!!!

8. The mindset behind allowing "legal carry" of guns in National Parks is that a National Park is Federal property. ONLY federal employees with the license to carry on duty will have the ability to protect visitors from any potential attack be it local wildlife or animals with criminal intent.

ITS THAT SIMPLE don't try to convolute it.

9. The Manson Family lived and murdered at the Barker Ranch in Death Valley National Park.

“The National Park Service says there were 116,588 reported offenses in national parks in 2006, the most recent year for which data are available, including 11 killings, 35 rapes or attempted rapes, 61 robberies, 16 kidnappings and 261 aggravated assaults,” the Los Angeles Times reported in a story about the possible rule change.

10. What is the mindset of liberals who want to strip people of guns in national parks when they are licensed to carry them elsewhere in that state?
