If positive thinking leads to positive things, then why do only bad things happen to me when I think positive?

If positive thinking leads to a positive life, then why did only bad things (abuse, rejections, etc) happen to me when I had a positive attitude about life?

1. because you are not as positive as you think...

2. But in what sense does that give you control?

3. Well, positive thinking isn't a guarantee. There are no absolutes in life except maybe death. The thing positive thinking gets you is a happier existence. If you live life to the fullest without worrying about the "bad things" in life, then maybe you will have a life worth looking back and saying "I had an awesome life"

4. Because you weren't reeeaaaallly thinking positively.

:) It's an un-falsifiable hypothesis, man.

5. As stated by whoever stated it "The worst things happen to the best people"
Positive thinking doesn't lead to positive things in itself. It's how you choose to act on that thinking. And even then, bad things can still happen to you. I'm sorry about what happens to you. But things like abuse and rejections will not be cured by positive thinking. Those things are determined by the actions of others.

6. This very general question can be flawed in many ways.
Positive thinking on its own does not have to lead to a positive experience or a positive life.
This is a flawed thought.
Positive thinking can lead to positive feeling if there is no resistance and if it is held long enough.
Feeling good is more important than thinking positive thoughts because it is your energy which has to match that of your source, your soul, your higher or greater self, the God-given flow of energy, or whatever you prefer to call it. Resistance to that flow is what needs to be side-stepped and once again time is a factor. One fast example. I frequently hear this statement made by people who think they are thinking positive: `` I want money (can be anything such as health or whatever) because I am really sick and tired of this bloody struggle.`` Positive thought or negative thought?
Both. Any value? No. They balance each other out at best and have little meaning. The good side is that at least they have a clue as to what it is that they want, more than some can say since they have so gotten used to feeling bad that they have forgotten why they are there in the first place. They no longer remember what it is that they wanted or did not want in the beginning.
It is difficult at best to remain positive feeling when it is noticed that the wanted subject has not appeared yet, like in `` Damn! I bought a lottery ticket with my last five bucks and I didn`t get rich.``
Get the idea? If you want to learn more pick up a book such as `Ask, And It Is Given` or go to youtube for abraham-hicks videos. The books are better because the videos are mostly only pieces or parts. Still they can be fun and there are thousands of them which mostly show examples.

7. You're probably reacting to input rather than directing your thoughts toward your desired reality. It doesn't matter how positive your reaction to input is, if you're not guiding your thoughts, you're not going to experience your desired reality. Emotions are brought to us from our subconscious mind based solely on our thoughts. This means if you are experiencing overall emotions you don't like, you are focusing your thoughts on that which you don't like. For instance if I'm thinking about all the things I'm grateful to have in my life then I feel good. If I'm thinking about all the things I lack in life I feel bad. Whatever you’re feeling is a direct result of your thought. Reflect on your thoughts after you experience an emotion and you will be able to verify what I have said. The thought pattern you have had in the past has determined your overall feelings now and whatever thought patterns you have now will determine your overall feelings in the future. In this manner we create our own realities with thought.

We also create our realities in a much more tangible way with thought as well. Our subconscious mind is designed to bring us our predominant way of thinking (or beliefs). It causes us to do things subconsciously that lead us to our beliefs. If we believe most people are nice for instance, we will do things subconsciously to not only witness examples of that reality but to draw more nice people into our lives as well. This is why it is so important to direct your thoughts in the manner in which you decide. Otherwise the default to input which is simply your thought reaction to circumstances and experiences and often the emotions associated with them can be quite negative or unwanted.

So if your current reality is not one you enjoy, then you need to direct your thoughts in a way that will bring about one you will. This requires very little work but it needs to be done daily. The trick is to fool your subconscious into believing that you think a certain way so that it will go to work to make it true for you. There are many methods to do this like affirmations, visualization, creativity (writing, painting, etc.), guided meditation and so on. The one that will work best for you probably depends on your learning style so a good understanding of how the subconscious takes in information will help you determine the best method for you.

Your subconscious mind has no bias, and works with images not language. It takes in images along with the emotions you attached to them. Words that have pictures associated with them count as pictures but there is not a picture for no or not, so you wouldn’t say, “I’m not going to get sick” rather, “I am healthy and strong”. It’s also important that the pictures be in present tense as if already acquired. This means when you’re doing them, you have to experience the emotions much like an actor on stage. The stronger and more frequent the emotion, the more priority it is given.

Since your future is created by your thoughts today, in addition to your consciously directed thoughts, you may want to change your input as well to one that is congruent with the reality you want to create. Reading or watching inspirational material is a great way to do this, as is reading about people who have mastered a reality you would like to emulate. Limiting the input that causes the emotions you don’t like is a given.

Your brain literally rewires its neural net in ninety days but you will probably start noticing changes in a little over a month of doing this. Your subconscious will then start leading you to your desired reality so you’ll need to pay attention to signs. A lot of it will happen without effort but sometimes signs are overlooked because they don’t meet our expectations. Usually if you are being lead to something you will either feel very strongly about it or get verification so if something comes up more than once, pay attention.

When you don’t understand how the mind works, it can be a constant source of frustration. I know, because I have experienced great pain in the past as a result of my own thinking and had no clue that I was causing it. It was only as a result of that pain that I was able to get to place humble enough to search for answers outside of my own logic. This eventually led me to the information I have just passed along to you, that you might begin to create your desired reality. When your mind works for you instead of against you, amazing things begin to happen. For me, this has not only been the key to happiness, but the key to life. I believe that when we create a reality in which we are truly happy, we reveal the divine within to the world. I hope this helps and I wish you well.
