How did the Tet Offensive during the Vietnam war change the views/mindset on Americans?
I need to think of a thesis about the question I just asked, but im having trouble, since I don't know how it changed the mindset of Americans. Thanks for all who answer, Also, if you could write a thesis using my question that would be really great. I will pick Best Answer as soon as someone helps me! Thanks<3

1. Well, the belief was that we were fighting primitive jungle soldiers and that our lack of victory was due to a lack of commitment to the war. The fact is that we could have won the war in another year and the victory would have been complete. The failure of the war was due to our governments micromanagement of the war and the CIA running it versus the generals and ground commanders.
The fact that charlie managed to not only embed himself in large numbers amongst the populous of south vietnam but that the influx of so many soldiers was kept quiet by so many indicated one thing, we were not wanted there by the people of south vietnam. The fact is only a handful of people really appreciated/understood what it was that the US was trying to accomplish, as far as american citizens are concerned, they saw it as a host of things revealed to them by the media. From american soldiers allegedly murdering entire villages (actually russian commandos dressed as american troops) to news reports on every engagement/death. Force the sight of death upon joe blow and it becomes unbearable. This coupled with the liberal outburst of the 19 and over crowd really placed an emphasis on why we needed to end the war and ultimately it gave people something to fight for (aside from the civil rights war here at home)
