Do affirmations really work for self esteem?
Is there evidence of peoples' lives getting better because of repeating messages to themselves?

1. As in scientific evidence? I don't know.
However in my opinion, yes I think they do. They will increase your confidence and let you try new things.
Another thing you can do is change one thing every day. Example: go a different way to work or school, wear something you haven't worn in years, try a different food, call a person you've never called before.
All of these things work against the root cause of low self-esteem: afraid of being judged. Trying new things helps reduce the fear of change and therefore expands your horizons instead of limiting them.
Good luck to you.
