Do you believe positive affirmations work?
Just curious, I've been doing research on the long-term effects of ones mental outlook after repeated use of positive affirmations (i.e. "I can do this!").
I would just like to know your opinion.
Thank you!

1. i think they do. mine just happen to involve a lot more cuss words, lol
2. I used to not believe them. But recently I've discovered the opposite. I'm in my first year of university in a new country. I was listening to Eminem a while ago and i caught the line: "you can do anything if you set your mind to it." for some days it never left my mind. And then i bought one big table cloth (the one you use and then throw out). I taped it to a wall in my room and on it with a permanent marker i wrote the line from the song. HUGE letters. :)
When ever i feel i can't do something i look at the sentence and it gives me some courage, just enough to get me going. (It can get tough, since i'm in a new place, need to make new friends, and keep up with university).
So, it worked for me. But i believe that to others it would make no difference, while others could probably get even more out of it than i do.
But i think that it is important not to press on yourself something. Everything must come naturally.
3. Yes, positive affirmations definitely work. I have used them for many years with great success. There are other things that you can do in addition to affirmations that can also help. Listening to inspirational books on tape, such as Joel Osteen's "Your Best Life Now," is helpful too. The more positive information you feed your mind, the easier it will be to stay positive.
