What could i do to make self-affirmations work? I already tried self-affirmations for months, but now my mind seems to reject it. I could try to tell myself that it is going to be a great day and i am a great person etc. etc... but deep in my mind it seems to reject all of it and revert to the opposite. I already read books on subconscious minds, books by napoleon hill and other authors but nothing seems to work. Any more idea on how i could do this thing? I only want to improve and develop my life. How do affirmations work? Im told that if you make the affirmation against something like I am stupid, if you say i am not stupid then your still focusing on being stupid. Is this accurate? and should i totally avoid saying not and just stick with something like I am smart.

how does affirmation work? to change your beliefs i know you need to do affirmation, but can you do affirmation without speaking, just thinking about it over and over?, its not like the subconscious can hear you, right?
Affirmations, do they work? I understand the reasoning behind using affirmations to change your thinking and improve your self esteem and all that, but writing a few positive statements down and repeating them a couple of times a day seems kind of ridiculous to me. What's the name of the little voice inside your head? how do psicologist call it? Subconcious? For example, people with low self-esteem, when they have to do something or meet someone, their "little voice" tells them "i won't make it", or "i suck" stuff like that. The opposite happens with people of good self-esteem. This sudden thoughts appear to be automatic. Why do some people's "little voices" inside their head are so critic while others are good? How do u... TRAIN your little voice to say the right things? Is this "voice" your subconscious?? Do u think that "affirmations" work?
Why is that all my life, I can only attract into my life the kind of men who are the exact opposite of me? I've been trying to avoid this type of men like the plague no matter how rich or good looking they are . All the men who were interested in me in the past and now are the type that I despise the most -- quiet, shy and boring guys. I happen to be outgoing, communicative, active and fun-loving. There are very few men of similar personality in this small town but I want to change my fate. I can't move out of my hometown so how do I attract similar people into my life? Do you have a positive view of Alcoholics Anonymous? Knowing how affirmations work and having used subliminal affirmations affirming and constantly saying I am an Alcoholic so far as affirmations that programs you to "go back out there" and have more problems with alcohol also calling it an incurable disease is not helpful either and is negative reinforcement, also I don't like the confidentiality and cult like support of people no matter what they do that they seem to have (including one story I heard about a hit and run of a little girl that was killed and they didn't go to the police and report this person they could have denied that he was drunk and still reported him to the police if that is what their confidentiality is about) Also they force people in court to go to these meetings (what happened to me) and say the lords prayer in closing and force people to also regardless of religion and make submitting yourself to a higher power the most important step. Also one of the meetings I went to the people started talking about how great it was being evil was cool and spent twenty minutes talking about who was more attracted to doing evil things such as hurting people intentionally (I am serious) and fighting people for no reason etc. The only good thing about this organization is the Alano club places (which I have known many people to just go to to hang out and chat not being part of the program at all) Crimes like the little girl should be reported though don't you think. I think I'm really funny but I have Social Anxiety? It sucks. I'm totally not myself around other people. Can you imagine how horrible I feel? Try. Imagine it. Go ahead. ::sigh:: I was able to be myself by a MIRacle of god this one time ..and the person was so nice to me afterward. :). I liked that.... But since then..it hasn't happened again. This miracle, i speak of, of course. Lol i know ..that sounds pretty helpless..butlike srsly when it ry to be myself i just feel to uncomfortable for it come out right ...so it comes out sounding like i'm trying too hard..which i am cuz...well, i am. How can I motivate myself to do work at school? I want to do the work at school, I honestly do. But it's so bloody boring and it's hard... And after a while it's just... Like I give up xD... I can't handle having an IQ of only 101? And it seemed accurate because you are only allowed to take one test per computer terminal. Although that is not really true. I've taken this test several different times. First time I got 92. I don't want to insult anyone or offend anyone but this is how I feel and it's the truth. I don't like the idea of being average of judged by my intelligence. People may say that IQ doesn't measure intelligence but there are positive correlations between IQ and achievement and GPA. It upsets me that a bunch of websites and people written by people with PhDs just told me that that chances of me achieving something great are very slim. I always thought that I was smart (even though most people think that I am stupid) but I guess that's not the case. I feel awful about myself. How should I handle this situation? Talk to a friend?
